Malinska
Malinska has been present in the tourist map of Europe since the beginning of the 20th century, when the first visitors began to arrive and the facilities in which they were accommodated were opened. The reason for coming was the mild climate and excellent geographical position.
Located in a wooded bay on the northwest coast of the island of Krk, Malinska is today very easily accessible to visitors from Europe and beyond. Major European cities such as Munich, Vienna or Milan can be reached by car in 6 hours. The island of Krk is connected to the mainland by the Krk Bridge and in the traffic context it can be considered a peninsula. There is no dependence on the sailing schedule of the ship or ferry, no waiting in line for boarding. No need to plan to come to the island through the day, we are always available.
In addition, about 15 km from Malinska is the international airport Rijeka, and in the center is the port. Unfortunately, at the moment we do not have a boat line, but in the summer months, boat trips depart from the port on a daily basis, most often to the neighboring island of Cres.
In summer, Malinska is a mecca for swimmers who can stretch out on one of the beaches in our bay. Almost all are equipped with bars, showers and toilets, and on some you can rent deck chairs and parasols.
The gastronomic offer of Malinska is rich, so there are various restaurants that offer international specialties, pizzerias, and the most appreciated are taverns offering local specialties and desserts such as presnac.
In the off-season, Malinska abounds with sunny days that you can use to enjoy the promenades or bike paths or tour the rest of the island. From the north to the south of the island, each place offers something special and noteworthy. Whether it is an immortelle plantation or a zipline, we believe that every detail will leave an indelible mark on you.
In addition, in the winter months in Malinska you can enjoy a real vacation, visit one of the national parks or nature park Učka. You can spend a snowy day at the nearby ski resort Platak or get to know Gorski kotar. We also advise you to visit Rijeka with an emphasis on Trsat and walk through Opatija. Whenever they come, Malinska has something nice to offer. Welcome!
Island of Krk
Among the 1185 Croatian islands, only one of them is the golden one, the Insula Aurea – the island of Krk. Located in the centre of the Kvarner bay, it is considered one of the most attractive tourist destinations. Its mild Mediterranean climate, good geographical position and variety of natural and cultural beauties gave it, even in ancient times, the name "golden island". Its cultural heritage has given it another name – the cradle of Croatian culture, whilst at the beginning of the 20th century it gained the name the “sixth continent”.
The 45th parallel passes through the island, whilst its longest part is 38 km and its widest 20 km long. Its coast is around 190 km long. The closest mainland is only about a hundred metres away and its neighbouring islands are the islands of Cres, Goli and Rab; a few smaller islands also pertain to it (the largest being Plavnik, which has 17 km of coast, and the smaller Školjić with just 400 m of coast); it has an unusual and varied relief, climbing from the north-western part to the south-eastern part – from picturesque gentle coves and lagoons, along fertile fields and dense forests with sub-mediterranean vegetation, to the parts of bare limestone and real mountain landscape. On the island of Krk there are three streams and two lakes.
